As in previous years, we set up camp in front of the Temple of Lenus Mars on the Martberg in Pommern on the Moselle during the local Roman and Celtic Festival on the first weekend in May. With a varied programme of presentations, we offered the audience insights into various topics relating to the Roman military – from a simulated battle against our friends from the Celtic group Sucellos, through a demonstration of our arrow weapons and the training of soldiers, to a sacrificial and swearing-in ceremony in Latin. The programme was complemented by a small civilian area featuring wool processing and Roman children’s games. In almost summer-like temperatures, numerous visitors attended the event and enjoyed the weekend just as much as we did.
