Changeable weather in the land of the Cherusci
At the "Cheruskertage" event at the museum in Oerlinghausen on 14 and 15 June, the changeable weather demanded a lot from our small detachment. The initial heat made the soldiers sweat and was brought to an abrupt end by a heavy downpour. Nevertheless, we did not miss the opportunity to go on a short march with a complete contubernium (a tent community of eight soldiers) with full equipment to ensure that there would be no renewed uprisings against Roman rule in the land of the Cherusci. However, everything remained peaceful and the interested visitors were able to gain further insights into the life of the soldiers under campaign conditions in our small camp.
